Career Counsel Ltd was set up in 2005 and is managed by Andrew Curtis.

Andy studied law and then legal practice at Bristol University, before completing his training contract with Taylor Joynson Garrett (now Taylor Wessing) in London and joining its employment department on qualification. Andy left TJG in early 2000 to join the London private practice team of global recruiter, Taylor Root, where he spent 3½ years recruiting lawyers for major City and international law firms. In June 2003, Andy returned to Bristol to launch the regional office of another national recruiter and he has been successfully recruiting lawyers into the Bristol, Cardiff and South West markets since that time.

Career Counsel Ltd is a corporate member of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and an organisational member of the Institute of Career Guidance (ICG). Andy is also British Psychological Society (BPS) trained and qualified to carry out psychometric assessments of ability and personality.

Andy is married to Stephanie and father to Devan and lives in Clifton. He spends most of his time enjoying Bristol living and encouraging all of his friends to come and join him in the South West!

Megan Alexander is a senior consultant and Associate Director at Career Counsel. Megan studied law at Brunel University and completed the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School, before training and qualifying as a family solicitor in 1997.  In early 2000 she commenced her legal recruitment career in the London market, working for over 3 years with GMK Legal Recruitment where she specialised in the recruitment of solicitors for major City law firms.  In 2003 Megan relocated to Bristol, where she worked alongside Andy Curtis in the launch of the South West office of a well known national recruiter. Megan joined Career Counsel in September 2006 and professes herself to be delighted to be working with Andy again! Megan is married to Martin and mother to Eleanor, born in August 2005.

Karen Patchell is the newest addition to the Team at Career Counsel, joining Andy and Megan in September 2007. A psychology graduate with 6 years senior level recruitment experience, Karen is an accredited member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and comes to Career Counsel having successfully established a South West regional office for a well known public sector recruiter.

Karen has roots in the South West and a comprehensive knowledge of the region and tells us that she is thrilled to be working with a leading team committed to providing bespoke legal recruitment solutions. Karen is married to Tom and mother to Piran.
